PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Our data shows an increase in care-leveling for youth in crisis by significantly reducing unnecessarily restrictive placements; increasing system collaboration; and developing innovative ways to keep youth safe in their most natural environments. In addition, working directly with schools, hospitals, first responders, etc. when there is a traumatic or tragic event involving a child, we help to restore stabilization in the wake of tragedy.  Our project philosophy is borne of strength-based, trauma-informed, and family systems approaches.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  1. Understand the history and purpose of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)
  2. Identify when a CISM response might be helpful
  3. Identify potential members, partners, and areas for response in local communities
  4. Identify the difference between crisis intervention strategies for children and adolescents versus those used with adults
  5. Understand the role of trauma in crisis assessment and disposition
  6. Identify potential local community partnerships that provide youth with optimal disposition resulting from crisis situations
